Founders Week 2021: A New Mission Statement...A Challenge for Us All.

It's All About Soul! The 2021 Founders Week Theme is inspired by a phrase from the University’s new Mission Statement, which includes, “Our curricular and co-curricular programs provide students with an education that shapes their souls, forms them intellectually, and prepares them for meaningful careers.” The University community is invited to celebrate the foundations of an Assumption education through a series of in-person events.

9/9 - Mass of the Holy Spirit

All members of the University community are invited to celebrate the beginning of the Academic Year in prayer, at the Mass of the Holy Spirit, on Thursday, September 9 at 11:30 a.m.  An Assumption alumnus and priest of Springfield, MA, Fr. Warren Savage will preside and preach at the Mass.  (Note that the class schedule on September 9 will be adjusted to accommodate students and faculty who would like to attend the Mass.)

9/11 - Greyhounds Football Game

Come out to support your Greyhounds as they compete against rival Bentley University on Saturday, September 11 at 1 p.m. 'Donut forget your spirit!” (get your free donuts) and take advantage of the “Gear Swap.”

9/12 - Mass & 9/11 Rememberance

At 7 p.m., on Sunday, September 12, the University community will gather for Mass in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit to remember the victims of September 11, 2001.  We recall in a special way our own alumnus, Thomas Lineham '84, who died in New York on that day.

9/13 - Agape-Latte with Prof. D'Souza

All are invited to the first Agape Latte of the new year, at 7 p.m., in Charlie’s, featuring Professor Lisa D'Souza. Agape-Latte is a storytelling series on life and faith that invites University faculty and staff to share powerful personal stories and transformative moments in their own lives about the times they saw God working in their everyday life.

9/16 - LLC Rededication

The University community is invited to participate in the rededication of the Living Learning Center, at 3:30 p.m., in front of the building (or in the top-floor lounge, in the event of rain). The rededication honors Assumption's first President, Isidore Gayraud, A.A. A French-themed culinary treat will follow the ceremony!

9/17 - Welcome Back Convocation

Faculty and Staff are invited to a “Welcome Back Convocation” at 3 p.m. in Curtis Performance Hall. At the Convocation, members of the community will be recognized for their accomplishments and service to the University. Refreshments will be served after the event, in the D’Amour Piazza (or the Tsotsis Lobby in the event of rain).

Assumptionist Beni School, in the D.R. of Congo

For at least three years now, Assumption students have been active supporters of the Prince of Peace School, founded by the Assumptionists, in the war-torn city of Beni, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Beginning on Monday, September 13, in Hagan, you will have an opportunity to learn more about this project and how you can get involved. Check out the table-tents in Taylor and Charlie’s as well.
